The Maude & Tunnicliffe records were distribinted by the Historical Manuscripts Commission to the appropriate record offices in 1958. There are two separate groups of records listed here.
(a) Roberts (later Wynne) family records. The Wynne family originated in Plas Newydd and Garthmeilio, co. Denbs., and Robert Wynne married Mary Roberts, the heiress of Brynyneinadd, Llanfairfechan in 1751. The Ann Fry of Strood, Kent, frequently mentioned here was second wife to their grandson John Wynne. S.P. Lynes was grandson to John Wynne and his first wife. The deeds listed here refer to Llanfairfechan, Caerhun, Llangelynnin, Llanbedrycennin and Conwy.
(b) Sampson family records. The family was English (one being a parish priest in Ripley, co. Yorks, and othrs living in Bath) but one member, Charles Johns Sampson, married Emily Jane Wynne of the Garthewin, co. Denbs., family, after he moved to Aberdinnant near Tremadog. Although their descendants moved to varioins parts, a home was maintained in Caernarfonshire - for many years at the Tower House, and later at Cae Coch, Bryn-y-Mor and Marianfa, Caernarfon. Despite this, many of the papers refer to family matters sinch as their trust property in Wandsworth, co. Surrey.
