COPY LETTER; The Secretary, Charity Commission, Whitehall, London to Rev. E.Davies, Llanllechid Rectory, Bangor. He informs him that the sale of cottages on the Plas Hwfa land by Trustees of the Bishop Williams Charity was discussed between the Charity Commissioners and Archdeacon Evans in 1873; from that correspondence, negotiations with the late Lord Penrhyn over the property (valued at £198 by Henry Kennedy of Bangor) were to no avail. At that time the tenants were paupers and rents were small and difficult to collect. The present proposal includes the whole of the charity estate. Enquiries are to be made as to possible objections to the sale and to the availability of a valuation. He encloses a form to be completed, which will authorise the sale. He asks for accounts of the charity for the last 3 years be forwarded. Enclosed: APPLICATION FORM to the Board to authorize a sale. Printed.
