COPY LETTER: W.E. Morris, Porthmadog to F.W.A. Roche, esq, informing him that he has paid to his credit at the National and Provincial Bank £250 on account of Harbour Duties for the quarter ending 31 March. Balance of £100 yet to come from several of the slate proprietors. Slate trade is good this month. German merchants are sending in extensive orders fearing that Bismark will put duty on slates imported into the country.
