COPY LETTER: A.G. Price, Welsh Office, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Cathays Park, Cardiff, to the Director of Education, Caernarfonshire County Council, Further Education Department, Education Officers, Caernarfon, re Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, Section 30 - Glynllifon Hall, with some Information about the architectural features of the building. Attached: (1) COPY LETTER (1 May, 1954): Peter Smith,. Royal Commission on Ancient Monument in Wales and Monmouthshire, 17 Queen’s Road, Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire to [?Director of Education, Caernarfonshire County Council] in reply to an enquiry for information on Glynllifon Hall. He sends a copy of their report from which information for the brochure can be extracted. He regrets that they are unable to prepare drawings in time for the opening, but points out that a fine series of photo- graphs of the Hall has been taken by Mr. Bernard Mason of the National Building Record. They have not been able to identify the architect, but Mr. Summerson suggests that it might have been mainly the work of Lord Newborough. Mach of their historical information comes from Prof. Glyn Roberts’s article in the Historical Society’s Transactions. He asks that his thanks be conveyed to the Institute for permitting them to survey the buildings (2) COPY REPORT of the Royal Commission on Ancient Monuments on Glynllifon house, Fort Williamsburg and the Newborough Mausoleum.
