Christmas card with an illustration of a gold rush in Victoria, Australia. The caption reads ’A Gold Rush’. An artist’s idea of a rush to the Victorian goldfields during the 1850’s, reproduced (slightly reduced) from a wood engraving in Cassell’s Picturesque Australasia (London 1887), held in the Pictorial Section of the National Library of Australia. The artist, W. Hatherell, was a prolific contributor to this four-volume work.
